Since
time immemorial, Ayurveda in India has tried to make the mankind understand
the psychosomatic integration. There are several famous books written on ayurveda in India. For Instance, The Sutrasthana of Charaka Samhita has
referred life a great combination of body, senses, mind and reincarnating
soul. Ayurveda is considered as one of the purest life science. This science
is quite effective and beneficial. Moreover, it has no side effects.
Another interesting feature of Ayurveda is that it has used all healing
methods, such as yoga, surgery, gems, amulets, meditation, herbs, diet,
jyotishi, color and life style. Ayurveda has a close link with all the
earliest known Vedas. In order to soothe 'panchamahabhuts', Yajur Veda has
recommended a few rituals for healing Cosmic as well as individual. In order
to heal sensitive body parts or Marmas, Ayurveda and Dhanur Veda or martial
arts refer each other.
Year 1500 BC marked the categorization of Ayurveda into two schools. They
are
Atreya and Dhanvantari. Atreya is known as the School of Physicians. On
the other hand, Dhanvantri is referred as School of Surgeons.
Later, a few more texts of Ayurveda were written, such as Dhanvantri,
Bhavaprakasha, Raja and Shaligram. All these books encompass new drugs and
applications. Year 800 AD marked translation of Ayurveda into Arabic.
Ayurveda heals a person in totality, as it heals body along with mind and
soul. It very well understands relationship between the natural law and
human body functioning. Thus, it effectively strikes a balance between both
of them. This is one of the major causes for the longest and uninterruptible
innings of Ayurveda.
